Paints

BoatCraft Pacific recommends only water based paints for both health and environmental reasons, and modern water based coatings have equal performance to their solvent based predecessors.

AQUACOTE WATER BASED COATINGS

AUSTRALIA'S FIRST MARINE QUALITY WATER BASED POLYURETHANE COATING

AQUACOTE HIGH BUILD EPOXY

AQUACOTE POLYURETHANE TOPCOAT
UV protected clear finish and range of 18 colours.

Aquacote is BoatCraft Pacific's range of water based high build epoxy undercoat and polyurethane topcoats. These highly durable coatings represent the newest technology available, offering leading edge protective coatings which set new standards in ease of use, environmental safety, and especially for protection of the health of applicators.

EASE OF USE:
Aquacote coatings require thinning and clean up with water only, and they can be applied safely to damp surfaces. They combine with Bote-Cote or Bild-Cote epoxy systems to present a complete fairing and protective coating system in particular for surfaces of timber and plywood, and any other porous or semi-porous surfaces requiring long term protection from marine and exterior environments.

Repetitive filling and sanding of rougher surfaces to make them fair and smooth is eliminated with Aquacote High Build Epoxy, an easy sanding, high build epoxy coating. Aquacote High Build Epoxy can be applied to sufficient thickness to enable the surface to be faired and smoothed to a fine professional finish in a single preparation step.

Aquacote Polyurethane Topcoat is a strong, hard, but flexible polyurethane coating which adheres strongly to most surfaces, and provides tough, long lasting protection similar to solvent type polyurethanes. It is available in a range of colours and in a crystal clear coating containing state of the art UV absorbers for maximum protection of the underlieing surface. Aquacote is water and solvent resistant.

USER HEALTH AND SAFETY
Aquacote water based coatings contain only minimal amounts of co-solvents to enable them to wet the surface and to aid in film formation. Elimination of the solvents in conventional paints results in greater safety for users who are no longer exposed to large amounts of solvent vapours. No solvents also means totally non-flammable.

In contrast to their solvent-based counterparts, Aquacote polyurethane topcoats contain no di-isocyanates. The presence of di-isocyanates has resulted in the use of conventional polyurethanes being banned in many locations because of their toxic effects. Aquacote now offers all users the benefits of a polyurethane coating without detrimental health problems.

Aquacote coatings can be used indoors and in enclosed areas where the build up of solvents and fumes would otherwise be highly dangerous. Ventilation is still recommended in enclosed areas.

ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE:
Aquacote water based coatings are non-flammable, have very low toxicity, and are very low in Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's). In fact Aquacote meets the strictest VOC requirements in the world, fully complying with Californian legislation. Aquacote water based coatings can be shipped anywhere, including by air, without restriction.

OTHER COATINGS

Tredgrip is an anti-slip textured coating which is permanently flexible, therefore, unlike hard sanded coatings is non-damaging to crew members. Safe and comfortable.

Cop-R-Bote is a permanent antifouling coating developed by BoatCraft, and proven in use all around Australia. It contains a suspension of copper particles in a Bote-Cote epoxy system, which effectively coats the hull in a tough sheath of pure copper metal, known for centuries as one of the most effective antifouling treatments. Cop-R-Bote is non-ablative and therefore non-polluting, and is economical as it avoids the regular recoating required for all conventional antifoulings. Cop-R-Bote is suitable for application by spray, roller, or brush, and can be used for all non-metallic boat hulls. Periodic maintenance required every few months is simply brushing down the hull to remove bacterial slime.

Cop-R-Bote also helps prevent osmosis in fibreglass boats, and has been proven to increase boat speed because of its permanently slick smooth surface. Unlike all conventional antifoulings, Cop-R-Bote has EPA acceptance for washing down and scrubbing without requiring the washings being removed for trade waste treatment.
